The Soldier

Dearly beloved,

We are known by the world as simply Christians, but we posses another title… Soldiers.
We are soldiers in the army of the LIVING GOD, marching to the song of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, The Redeemer, and Savior of the world. This is no lite title because it bears its own weight. To grasp the gravity of this title and position we must turn to the bible to find our example. Though there are many soldiers that are in the gospel, we will focus on one example in particular, this example comes in the form of King David.

The bible tells in (I Samuel, II Samuel and also in the book of Kings) the life of king David, a man anointed by GOD to be a successor to king Saul (Due to Saul being unwilling to follow the word of the Lord). David was not only a king but he was a soldier who fought both physically and spiritually for the Lord. Though David had the anointing, he lived and survived as a soldier for GOD long before he could receive his throne. The trials of David were many, defending and serving a king who desired to end David’s life. David had to not only fight against surrounding hostile territories but the king he vigorously and valiantly helped protect. The gospel goes on to tell of how David and the people loyal to him, had to fight for their lives in exile, survive, go without, lose their wives and children, go into hostile territory and to get them back, fight sickness, fatigue, and try to find shelter. Here we have a soldier of GOD who was fraught with trials and tribulation. The book of Psalms(many of which were written by David) specifically 1 thorough 41 deal with lamentations and supplications pertaining to their struggle (and ours)...

King David though being so beloved by GOD
Still, made mistakes, faced hardships, suffered, bled, but remained steadfast in truth, while marching ever forward. This is the example of a soldier of GOD,
Though we are displaced, distraught, betrayed and attacked, we are soldiers and we march on, like King David until we are delivered by God from our hardships, in
2Ti 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Brothers and Sisters we are soldiers in the army of the living GOD we must prepare to fight evil on every front; 1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation; and let us be armed with the Gospel of Peace (Eph 6:15-17).
